Add text on your video

Put words on the screen and style them.

Steps

  1. Click Text in the left sidebar.
  2. A text box starts on the video with a blinking cursor. Type your words.
  3. Click away from the box when you are done. Press Esc to stop typing.
  4. Use the Text panel on the left to change the look:
    • Font
    • Size
    • Bold, italic, underline, and capital letters
    • Alignment (left, middle, right)
    • Colour
    • Space between letters and lines
    • A background box behind the words
    • An outline
    • A shadow
  5. Drag the text on the video to move it. Drag its corners to make it bigger or smaller.
  6. On the timeline, drag the text block to change when it shows. Drag its edges to change how long it shows.

Use your own font

  1. In the Text panel, click the + next to Font.
  2. Choose a .ttf or .otf file. The file must be 5 MB or smaller.
  3. Your font appears in the list.
  4. Note: a custom font is one fixed style. The bold and italic buttons are off for it.
  5. Make sure you have the right to use the font.

Edit text later

  • Double-click the text, or select it and press Enter.

Good to know

  • Text is drawn the same way in the preview and in the export. What you see is what you get.
  • If your custom font is deleted later, the export uses the default font.
