Make captions from speech

Turn the words in your video into text you can read and fix.

Steps

1. Click Captions in the left sidebar.
2. If your video has no transcript yet, start it from the panel. Wait while it works.
3. Read the words in the panel. Click a word to jump to that spot in the video.
4. To fix a wrong word, click it and type the right one. Press Enter to save.
5. To save the words as a file, use Download caption (.txt).

Fix names and special words

• The transcript can get names wrong, especially local names. Read it once and fix them.

Good to know

• The transcript needs clear sound. Noise and music can cause mistakes.
• Making a transcript takes a little time. Longer videos take longer.
